Imitation Assignment
For my imitation assignment I chose Erwin Blumenfeld, one of the most influential fashion photographers in the 40s and 50s. I thought his work with transparent objects and reflection to highlight his subject was inspiring and beautiful. In my shoot with my dear friend Mary, I attempted to use some of his techniques (read: transparent scarf) to create photographs that embodied Erwin Blumenfeld"s work but I didn"t try to recreate a specific photograph. Here is one of his most famous pictures of Audrey Hepburn and a few of my best shots. Enjoy!

Assignment 3: Motion
To give the feeling of motion in photography, you can use blur. You can create motion if there is none by giving motion to your camera, or by changing the shutter speeds. If you use different (faster) shutter speeds you can see things that the human eye can't by freezing motion. For example, you can capture a hummingbird mid-hover so that it hangs completely without motion in the air. Motion is a great way to create a story and to make photographs more beautiful. Here are some of my favorite motion pictures that I took this week:

Still Life Assignment
Still life is not my forte. I like shooting people much more, but I think these were some of my best still life pictures from this week. In both my wistful Barbie and my lime photo, I have a pretty great depth of field, nothings really out of focus. Both of these depth of fields were I think mostly affected by my distance from the subject. You can change your depth of field like that or by changing your shutter speed. Greater depths of field worked better (I think) for these two photos.
